Challenge
An abstract election, a distant continent.
A distant election
Every five years, European citizens vote for the European Parliament. For the Dutch Caribbean, the physical and mental distance from Europe can make that right feel far removed from everyday life.
Local relevance
The issues discussed in Europe are not as distant as they seem. Healthcare, employment, the environment and social issues all have a direct impact on life across the islands.
Making voting matter
The challenge was to turn an abstract European election into something local, relevant and worth paying attention to.

Process
One promise, three moments.
A simple promise
We developed the creative idea "Europe, closer than you think", using local realities to make European issues feel more immediate.
Connecting two worlds
European election topics were paired with recognizable Caribbean places and situations, creating a visual bridge between Brussels and the islands.
Three moments
The campaign was structured around three phases: Eurobuzz, to create curiosity; Europe is closer than you think, to build relevance; and Information, to make voting practical.

Solution
European issues, felt at home.
Europe in the Caribbean
The campaign brought European topics into familiar local contexts, making issues such as pollution, employment and healthcare easier to relate to.
A reason to care
By connecting European decisions to everyday island life, the campaign showed that distance does not mean disconnection.
From awareness to action
The campaign moved people from curiosity to understanding and finally to the practical information they needed to cast their vote.
