Creating a clear and accessible digital information platform
Challenge
The Joint Court of Justice approached Profound to design and develop their new website. The website should be an important source of legal information for six Caribbean countries and territories within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Because of the role of the organisation, accuracy and legal correctness are non-negotiable.
At the same time, the website should be accessible to a wide audience, ranging from legal professionals to citizens with no legal background at all. The challenge was to structure and design a modern website that makes legal information available, while supporting multiple jurisdictions, languages and needs.
Strategy
To manage the complexity of the content, we kicked off this project by developing a solid structure for the website. We created a sitemap, in which we organized the pages based on the various types of information. After that, we created wireframes for the website to ensure clarity and form the foundation for the design.
Once the wireframes were finished, we started with designing the website, based on the latest UX/UI design trends. When designing the website, we focused on two principles: less is more and form follows function. Instead of solely focusing on visual elements, we prioritized clarity and ease of use. The goal was to make information easily accessible, while maintaining a neutral and authoritative look and feel of the website.
Execution
Once the design was finished, it was time to develop the website on our WordPress Content Management System (WCMS), allowing the Joint Court of Justice to manage and update the content on the website efficiently.
The website will be available in four languages, ensuring that all users across the different territories will be able to find the information they need. Profound is continuously supporting the Joint Court of Justice with migrating and structuring all the content, focusing on accuracy and consistency.
Results
The result is a modern website that has a clear structure with all information easily accessible to visitors. The website supports the public role of the Joint Court of Justice by making complex content accessible in a neutral way.
Now, citizens all over the Caribbean Netherlands have access to a broad range of legal information, including reliable information on procedures, cases and the organisation itself.
